At last year's New York Gift Fair I came across a few vendors selling Balinese parasols. Although my instinct is to buy, buy, buy; I'm wondering if many people feel like me: Parasols are adorable, but what do I **do** with it? Pack it in sand at Coney Island? While I test the parasol market, here's another round-up of inspired decor.....

Love how this parasol is used as a light fixture. There's a tutorial on Apartment Therapy, too.

This is fantastic. I have no idea how it's propped up, though. Doesn't seem like shoving the pole behind the couch is a good option if you have kids or cats or friends.

I've heard some blog-talk that these stencils are borderline racist; so, I'm staying far away from that conversation by simply pointing out: What a creative use of negative space PLUS, way to play up a whole theme while keeping the decor streamlined.

Parasols are such a great accessory for parties and home staging. Mine always seem to wind up sitting in an empty corner. But with a little creativity I could do something like....
